Miss Rodeo USA

My day started bright an early again this morning! I was scheduled to speak in a school in Waynesboro,Georgia at nine o'clock. Well traffic being traffic I wasn't able to arrive until almost ten but better late than never the show went on at ten! I also spoke with the Burke county elementary schools and all I can say is they have a great bunch of students lead by a great staff and faculty! I appreciate being able to speak to them. I was allowed a little down time so I spent it getting more acquainted with my host family, Jamie! We all went to eat at a great restaurant called T-Bonz. I was met by David, Wendy, Angel, and Jamie who all are nurses at the burn center and in their free time help put on the rodeo. David is the chairman of the rodeo and his wife Wendy will be a timer this year. After a great time at dinner I went back to the burn center and met the night shift nurses! What a great group of people I was welcomed in and did autographs and we all chatted and laughed! I met Bart a Texas man at heart and also Angie who is the most compassionate person I have met. I wish I could name them all but I do want to thank them for doing what they do from their heart and allowing me a glimpse in to what they do. I want to share with you someone who has touched my heart and put a face on the what this rodeo is all about. I met tonight a man who's son was in the sugar refinery explosion that we all heard about on t.v.. His name was Mr. Frazier his son was transfered here to be taken care of, they are from Savannah. He stays in the retreat for the families, through all of this his is with his son. I met him through Angie, one of the nurses, Mr. Frazier and I talked about rodeo and life stories. We laughed and carried on and just like any proud parent he told me about his son Malcom. He told me that every time his car would get dirty Malcom would come over and wash it for him just to help out. I have met Malcom although he won't remember me I will remember him and his family in my prayers. His father because of this retreat house can be with his son and sing hymns to him to calm his spirit and let him know that even though he can't see him he knows his daddy is there! So I ask you all to keep Malcom in your prayers for his speedy recovery so that this summer he can wash his fathers car just like he use to! Please check out this website and read all about what happens here in this amazing place and I hope it touches you the way that it has touched me. www.theburncenter.org
