Day 3 already???? We had such a busy day I can't remember everything except the late night run to Sonic and the Karaoke session. Check out Youtube for Miss Rodeo USA Karaoke.
I'll get to Karaoke in just a few seconds... After lunch at Rib Crib, we traveled to Bethany, Okla. to visit the kids and staff at The Children's Center. This was the second year the girls have been invited to the Center, and will become an annual stop for The Miss Rodeo USA Pageant.
Along with several contestants from IFR39, we were split into two groups and given a tour of the Center. We stopped by a couple of rooms where the children were not able to get out of bed, but were able to have visitors, and the visitors came with gifts...
Pageant sponsor Ariat, sent limited edition Ariat Breyer horses and Carhartt sent bandannas for the kids.
the two groups met up at the Centers gym, where they were greeted by 25 very curious faces, along with nurses, staff a couple of parents, News9 cameras and a photographer from The Daily Oklahoman.
The curious faces of the children, soon became smiles, which then turned to giggles and laughter as the kids began to play with their new Breyer horses or bandanas... one little girl took the hands of two of the girls, and walked them over to a mirror so she can see how pretty she looked.
After spending about 45 minutes with the children, most of them had to leave and go back to there rooms, and the girls had the "dreaded" written test waiting for them back at the hotel, so it was off to The Biltmore.
After the test, it was off to Norman, Okla. for The IFR39 Gold Buckle Gala, and then back to Oklahoma City and Leadership Square. The girls were shown where the Ariat Modeling was going to be held on Thursday.
On the way back to the hotel, everyone wanted Cherry Limeade from Sonic... so it was a quick stop at Sonic, and back home to The Biltmore.
Amy greeted the girls as they arrived, and said how proud she was of everyone, and informed them that they had the night off to relax... and parents, friends and loved ones, your "dingy daughters" fell for this act of kindness by Amy.
About 15 minutes later, there was a knock on each of the girls doors, and they were told to meet in room 615, the rec. room. Everyone was in their PJ's with wet hair, well, most everyone... some were still in the shower, so they were not too thrilled.
When everyone was in the room and seated... they were informed that it was Karaoke night, and they were the stars. first there was silence, then a group laugh.
I mentioned "dingy daughters", but these are some wonderful young ladies, and this will be one of the, if not the closest Miss Rodeo USA Pageant.
By the way... these girls are all tone deaf!
Each girl got to pick what song they wanted to sing, or thought they can sing. From the girl that was singing, to the audience, it was non stop laughter.
The highlight of the evening was when Avery Williams sang her version of "Sweet Chariot". Trail Boss Bob Oliver laughed so hard, he was brought to tears, and contestant Jamie Virden was laughing so hard, we thought she was going to fall off her chair.
It was a great way to end day 3...
